Dean Fenton

Born on August 30, 1966, and hailing from Kentish Road, Antigua, Dean Fenton serves as the U.S. Director for the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, where he has been a driving force in Caribbean tourism promotion for over two decades. Since 2011, he has proudly represented his homeland, leading initiatives that have significantly strengthened Antigua and Barbuda’s presence in the competitive U.S. travel market.

Renowned for his strategic vision, dynamic leadership, and ability to connect the "big picture" to actionable results, Dean thrives in fast-paced environments that demand flexibility, innovation, and tangible outcomes. Throughout his career, he has built and nurtured strong relationships across the tourism ecosystem — including promotional partners, travel advisors, tour operators, airlines, travel communities, and both trade and consumer media.

Dean is a graduate of Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY), where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing. He is also a published author, having penned five thought-provoking books exploring the theme of "things that baffle us," showcasing his passion for exploration and storytelling beyond the world of travel.

A passionate advocate for Antigua and Barbuda’s positioning as a premier destination for romance, weddings, and honeymoons, Dean has been instrumental in the country earning numerous accolades. Antigua and Barbuda have been recognized multiple times as the "Caribbean Honeymoon Destination of the Year" and the "Caribbean’s Most Romantic Wedding Destination" by the Caribbean Wedding Industry Awards.

Dean also spearheaded the creation of The Black Pineapple Awards, a groundbreaking initiative launched to honour and celebrate the achievements of outstanding travel agents worldwide. The inaugural ceremony, held from December 6–8, 2024, recognized over 100 top-producing travel agents from Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Named after Antigua’s famous Black Pineapple — a symbol of hospitality and excellence — the awards reflected Dean’s commitment to innovation in destination marketing.

Further advancing Antigua and Barbuda’s global standing, Dean led the effort for the destination to join Virtuoso, the world’s leading luxury travel network. This strategic achievement placed Antigua and Barbuda firmly among the high-end luxury tourism destinations, opening new doors to elite travellers and premier travel advisors around the world.

Earlier this year, under Dean’s leadership, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority hosted a special ceremony honouring distinguished industry VIPs. Through the presentation of the Minister’s Award for Excellence in Tourism, travel professionals, media partners, and community leaders were recognized for their outstanding commitment to promoting Antigua and Barbuda and contributing to the destination’s growth and continued success.

Dean remains steadfast in his mission to elevate Antigua and Barbuda’s profile globally, championing the islands as a premier choice for travellers seeking unforgettable experiences.
